Distressed Calls

Some while back, there was a warning email going around, which cautioned women not to open their doors at night, if they thought that they heard a crying baby outside their window or door; instead, they were to call the police and report it. The reason for this, supposedly, was there was said to be a serial rapist on the loose that used the recorded sound of a crying baby, to lure women to open their doors, late at night, so that he might gain entry into their homes.

We all know that most women’s hearts are touched at the sound of a distressed infant, and will instinctively go to their aid. However, to do so in this instance meant immediate danger to the rescuer, or the one who was already safe. SNOPES, an online investigative reporting company later stated that this was a false report circulating and to ignore it. 

In the next line of our poem, we talk of the distressed sounds that will reach the ears of the saints, when Jesus returns to gather them into His kingdom. This is no false report and it should not be ignored.

Line 16: So that when He comes in the clear blue skies, the saints will hear their sorrowful cries.

Let us investigate the Scriptural activity, which is recorded to alert us of what will actually happen, when the Lord Jesus Christ returns. There are five things in particular, with which we need to acquaint ourselves, relative to the second coming of Christ. I shall outline them as such, with accompanying Scriptures. 1. Jesus returns in the clouds, surrounded by all of His attending angels, who gather up the righteous for heaven and every eye will see Him (Jesus). Rev. 1:7; Matt. 13:36-43; Acts 1:9-11; Matthew 24:31

2. The dead saints, those who have accepted Jesus as their Saviour and passed away, will be resurrected and caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Jesus will not walk upon the earth again, at His second coming. I have addressed this fact in another blog, but I mention it again here, because this is one way that millions are being deceived, even today. Many believe that Jesus has come in various places and are actually worshiping a demon/or fallen angel. I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Matthew 24:5; Matthew 24:23-25

3. The living saints, at the time of Jesus’ second coming, will be translated – meaning they will take on new bodies – they too will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air, along with the raised dead. I Corinthians 15:51-55

4. The living sinners will run to the rocks and mountains and cry for them to fall upon them and cover them from the frightening sight of a returning God, who has come in vengeance against those who have rejected His offers of mercy. We are told that to the wicked, His coming will be like a consuming fire that shall burn them alive and leave them upon the earth; no one will bury them. They will be food for the fowl of the air. Revelation 6:15-17; Psalms 50:3-6; II Thessalonians 2:8; Jeremiah 25:30-33; Revelation 19:11-18

5. All of the dead sinners will remain dead and in their graves (one thousand more years after Jesus’ second coming), until such time as the Lord, with the saints descend, in the New Jerusalem and call them forth for final judgment. Revelation 20:1-7;        Revelation 20:11-15

Yes, the saints will hear the sorrowful, distressed cries of the wicked, as they are being destroyed during the second coming of Christ, as well as, during the final judgment, when all of the wicked will be forever destroyed; that includes the devil, death and hell. Oh what a glorious day that will be. I’ve learned my lesson about answering when I am called, I pray that all who have not answered the call of salvation will answer it today, even now!

Bitter Refusal

As a young child growing up, I lived in a very rural area. There were no street lights after dark, to show you the way home, or to indicate to you that it was time to go into the house, for safety’s sake. The one thing on which we had to rely, when it was time to come into the house, was a familiar call from mother, or a message sent from her, by a sibling or trusted friend. There were never more than two attempts to gain my attention or that of my siblings. The first attempt, was a call of grace and good will. In that call, love and mercy were extended, for it meant that she cared for our safety and that shelter for the same was being offered. The second call was one of judgment: it meant that unless you heeded this call and run to the provided safety, judgment would fall; not necessarily from the dark outside of the house, but from the provider inside of the house, my mother.

We, as youngsters, knew the impact of each call and we only had one time to ignore that call, before we would suffer the aforementioned judgment. Once you suffered that judgment, never more did you ignore the calls to safety, at the appropriate times.

The next two lines of our poem describe a similar situation involving the unrepentant sinner and the call of love and mercy given by the heavenly Father.

Line 14: *But to those who refuse to accept his call, which turn their backs refuse Him their all

Line 15: To them – never a hope of eternal bliss – but rather His favor and grace they will miss.

The unrepentant sinner who fails to listen to the call of the Saviour in Matthew 11:28-30, when Jesus bids all who are weary and heavy laden (with sin) to come unto Him; or the call in Revelation 22:17, where the Spirit and the bride (church) says, “Come” will find themselves listening to the call of judgment, which will come from the selfsame source as the call of love and mercy.  Their hearts will fail them for fear of the present and the future. Luke 21:26

It is sad to report, but to those who have proven to be “hard-headed”, as my mother used to say, will fail to receive all of the benefits of those who live within the shelter of the Father. They will find themselves among the two classes described in  Revelation 22:11-12  where the Saviour announces His final sentiments toward all who will be saved and all who will be lost; also,   Revelation 6:15-17, where the sinners run to the dens and rocks of the mountains seeking shelter from the Saviour’s wrath. 

At that time, just like when I was a child and ignored the first call of love and mercy, the next call, the next voice to be heard will be the voice of final judgment on the living; those who have ignored and/or rejected the call of salvation. That fearful looking forward to something really bad will be theirs to anticipate.

We are told also, that it is not only the punishment, which comes with disobedience that is so awful  but the realization that Jesus and heaven can never be yours, because you never possessed Him - I John 5:12

That is a time that burdens my heart to think about for anyone. Hopelessness, doom, destruction and torment: all words that go with ‘eternal loss.’ It doesn’t have to be that way. No one needs to be lost; everyone who is alive today, has an opportunity to avoid that fate; think of me as the sibling or trusted friend who bears the warning message that darkness is coming and you need to come home to safety. Every blog I write, every prayer I pray, every book I pen is with the hope, the thought, the prayer that someone, anyone, everyone who hears and/or reads will draw close to Christ and accept the offer of salvation. It doesn’t cost anything but the price of PRIDE. Won’t you be willing today, to pay such a cheap price, for such a grand prize as salvation and eternity with your loving Creator and Redeemer? A Number in Degrees

I’ve known people who are great mathematicians. Their ability to calculate any problem is to me somewhat astounding; when the topic of dealing with degrees in math are presented, or any other numerical equation arises, their blood races; they are serious ‘left-brain’ people. I, on the other hand, am a ‘right-brainer’, as the definition for right and left brain learners go; my mathematical skills are limited. However, today’s subject, which refers to the mathematical equation of salvation, is one with which I am somewhat familiar.

The very next line in our poem makes reference to an essential mathematical application that must take place in one’s life, if salvation is the ultimate goal.

Line 13: This is the promise to those who receive; His offer of salvation and the life of sin leave.

What is the promise? The promise is deliverance from the fate of death; to be resurrected – made alive again – to never ever die again, but rather to live throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity; to never again know what sickness, sorrow, suffering or pain is all about. The promise includes living in a sin-free environment, with nothing but bliss-filled positivity permeating the atmosphere.

Who are those who receive the promise? They are those who accept the invitation of the Spirit of God to have a personal and saving relationship with Jesus/Yashua, the Messiah and Saviour of mankind from sin and the second death. St. John 1:12; I John 3:1-3

What is the offer of salvation? The offer of salvation can be found in the following verses: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls; for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God.” II Corinthians 5:21

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17

“But God commendeth (to show, prove, establish, exhibit) His love toward us, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

How do you leave the ‘life of sin’? You leave the life of sin, by making a one-hundred and eighty degree (180) degree turn in your life. Once conviction comes to your heart that you are a sinner; that you have a hole a cavity in your life that just cannot be filled with any of the things you’ve tried in the past; that there is a longing for a peace, a rest, a wholeness that just seems to elude you at all costs, and you spiritually ‘stand still’ long enough to acknowledge the voice that has been calling to you for a long time and you accept it, then comes the transformation. Then comes the one-hundred and eighty (180) degree turn needed in your life, whereby you can leave the life of sin.

You completely stop going in one direction, turn around, and head in the opposite direction. Instead of running from God, honesty, wholeness, right-doing and soundness of mind, you run toward it and away from chaos, unrest, bitterness, back-biting, in-fighting and grief. A number in degrees becomes your friend, and you embrace it with relish!
