I have been so blessed, in my life, to preach
to a variety of people, in various places. Some of the places have included
prisons, churches, conferences and specialty auxiliaries in the church.
One day while musing over a message to be
given to a women’s prayer group the following week, a thought came to my mind
that I had read from a fantastic little book, Steps to Christ.
“Through nature and revelation, through His
providence, and by the influence of His Spirit, God speaks to us. But these are
not enough; we need also to pour out our hearts to Him. In order to have spiritual
life and energy, we must have actual intercourse with our heavenly father…In
order to commune with God; we must have something to say to Him concerning our
actual life.” Steps to Christ, E.G. White, p. 89
The aforementioned statement sent me into a
whirlwind of ideas. As I contemplated that statement, ‘we must have actual intercourse
with our heavenly father’, a realization hit me. This word ‘intercourse’ had
been used in such a narrow, by most individuals that the thought of engaging in
intercourse with God would probably blow their minds.
Therefore, I began my biblical research and
was thrilled with how my prayer life took on new meaning! I have been called by
many ‘a bad refrigerator’ because I can’t keep anything good; therefore, I
wrote the book Prayer: Intimacy with God, whereby I could share with others
the marvelous blessings received, when they enhance their prayer life with God.
I even added a workbook, to help them engage more fully in the process.
