One of the most amazing things the
Holy Spirit does in a person’s life is to arm him/her with the abilities to imitate
the character of Jesus. He does it by instilling in them with the fruit of the Spirit.
Now the “fruit” of the Spirit is
love, which can only come from God, for God is love – I
John 4:16. However, from that one “fruit” comes a plethora of attributes.
So, what are these attributes,
which are derived from this one fruit: love? “But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness,
temperance…” Galatians
5:22-23
Through the exhibition of these
attributes, the character is seen in the lives of His followers. Failure to possess these attributes leaves a
professed follower of Christ suspect – for the very name Christian implies that
one is “like” Christ.
Lastly, the Holy Spirit seals your
salvation. In other words, in order for
you to be saved into God’s kingdom, you must be sealed and the Holy Spirit is
the only entity that can do that. “…In whom ye also trusted, after that ye
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom
also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of
promise…” Ephesians
1:13
Truly, God is good to all of His
creation; and to them who are willing to receive it, salvation is free to all.
