As we have spoken about the many “spirits”
that are gone out into the world I
John 4:1; it is only right or fair that we should define, as far as humanly
possible, who the Holy Spirit is.
According to the Holy Bible, which
the Holy Spirit inspired, as He spoke to holy men…II
Peter 1:21, He is the third person, in the Triune Godhead.
He was present at creation and is
the first of the three persons mentioned in Scripture – Genesis
1:2
He was one of the “us” mentioned in Genesis
1:26 when God (Elohim, the plural name for God) discussed creating mankind.
Jesus gave instructions to His
disciples, just prior to ascending to heaven, after His resurrection that they
were to go into the entire world and preach the good news (gospel). They were to make disciples of men, teach
them the truth of the gospel and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son
and the Holy Ghost or Spirit - Matthew
28: 18-19; thus establishing the divinity of the Holy Spirit and His
equality with the Father and the Son of God.
Keep coming back; next week we shall
address the “position” of the Holy Spirit. I have learned that if we take the
Bible at its word, it will explain itself, without contradiction.
