What is worship? Noun - the feeling or expression of reverence
and adoration for a deity; "the worship of God." Verb - show reverence and adoration for (a deity); honor with
religious rites.
In Matthew
4:8-10, Jesus and satan have a conversation; Jesus has been fasting for 40
days and nights and then satan shows up. After tempting Jesus with food and
power, satan lastly offers him worldly gain and fame, in exchange for worship. Jesus
declared that God alone is to be worshipped.
Satan has desired worship, since before he was cast
out of heaven. It is only, when one has the spirit of satan that they desire to
be worshipped; to be exalted above God or in place of God. We see in the
following texts of Scripture, ways that describe satan’s desire for worship. Isaiah
14:12-14; II
Thessalonians 2:3-4.
Unfortunately, when a great deal of power is
concentrated in one place, it appears that the desire to be worshipped is
almost inevitable. It is sad that this happened within the confines of the
Christian church, during the early period of the papal institution.
I am saddened to share that there are those who have
declared the Pope to be “God on
earth”. None of the popes have denied the title, or the title “Vicar of
Christ” or “Holy Father”. The true Vicar of Christ is the Holy Spirit, John
14:16-18. He is the true comforter, like unto Christ.
Again, I encourage you to read all of the links; they may be shocking, but they are still filled with the truth. It is the truth that will make you free, and nothing else, John 8:32. Be blessed!
