Let the Sun Shine In

The second item on our list for the big eight is sunshine!

Because so many people have gotten sunburned over the years or have developed cancer, as a result of too much sun exposure, sunshine has gotten a bad rap. However, sunshine is the best and main provider of Vitamin D. Fifteen minutes of sunshine, per day will provide you with all of the vitamin D your body needs, as long as, you don’t have on any sunscreen.

Also, in that same amount of time, it will provide you with much needed calcium, which is great for the bones!

Exposing the eyes to the sun (don’t look directly at the sun), but keeping the eyes closed and looking up toward the sun for approximately one minute or so, releases nutrients into the eyes that positively impacts the brain for clearer thinking.

Therefore, rethink that sun exposure thing. Take it in small doses, but often and see if you don’t feel better.

Until next time…Bye

Every Breathe I Take

The number one item on the list of the big eight - air!

Air is the most significant entity in the life of anyone.  If we remove air, we remove our ability to breathe; stop breathing and well, we know what will happen next. Therefore, the biggest contributor on the big eight list is air/oxygen.

Getting fresh air does four things, in particular for our bodies:
 a) It vitalizes us: if you run or even walk 20 minutes out of every day, you will feel more alive – just period!

b) Fresh air invigorates you; it can be the stimulus for waking you up when you are sleepy, or motivating you to move, when you feel sluggish.

c) Oxygen electrifies your body, by causing the synapses in your brain to fire more rapidly and thus to clear out the fog in your thinking.

d) It soothes the nerves. Getting 20 minutes’ worth of fresh air will help you calm down, as well as sleep better at night.

Consequently, don’t get insulted, when someone tells you to “take a walk”; take it seriously; do it for 20 minutes or more and you’ll be grateful that you did.

Until next time…Bye!

Eight is Enough!

I sincerely hope you enjoyed the video about Naturopathic medicine. This approach to medicine has opened up for me an entirely new way of handling my personal health care. Although my daughter introduced me to Dr. O’Neill, it was not my first adventure to this field of medicine.

As part of the naturopathic approach to good health is a set of prevention guidelines: there are eight of them. These guidelines form the basis for preventing, healing and or treating any type of illness. They are called the “Eight Laws of Health”. In the next several posts, we shall deal with these laws, one by one. Today, we merely wish to introduce you to them and to emphasize their importance in your life.

I have learned the hard way that if each of us observes these simple laws; we could significantly reduce our time spent in the doctor’s office, time off from work, and a vast majority of other encumbrances, which we cause to ourselves and to others.

Until next time, be good to yourself.
