Feigning Nescience

“What are you talking about?” I can hear you saying. “Here you go again, being a wordsmith.” Stick with me, you might enjoy it and you might just get a bonus.

Nescience (Latin = Nesciere): “The context of not knowing; to not know because knowledge was absent or unattainable.” This isn’t the worse thing in the world. As a matter of fact the bible gives us a break regarding this condition:

“The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”  Deuteronomy 29:29 KJV

“God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It’s up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation.” Deuteronomy 29:29 MSG=Message Bible

Did you catch that? There are some things that we will never know, because they are not ours to know; it’s God’s business. However, many people wish to use this word in an improper context. They wish to call it ‘ignorance’; however, let’s define that word as well.

Ignorance (Latin = Ignorare): “To not know even though necessary information is present, because that information has been willfully refused or disregarded.” The Scripture has a verse for that one, too.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”   Hosea 4:6 KJV

Many people assume the attitude of “rejected knowledge”, when it comes to facing the truth about the state of the dead. They feign/fake/pretend as though there is no ‘truth’ about the matter, or reason that if a pastor, rabbi, priest or other spiritual leader said that their loved one was still alive somewhere, after the medical profession had pronounced them to be dead, (as we all understand death), then they should just accept it and not question otherwise. They willingly close their eyes and pretend that truth doesn’t exist, which explains the next line in the poem:

Line 20: Will you on purpose continue being deceived? Listening to Satan like our Mother Eve?

Again, they act as if there is no definitive knowledge, when in reality they just want to “ignore” the knowledge that is available and bask in the lies of the enemy. They wish to believe that there is an immortal soul somewhere, where their loved one continues to exist – and take note, that it is “always” in a wonderful place, a “better place”. I am not trying to be insensitive; I’m merely trying to bring home a very harsh reality, which exists in our psyche, not in reality and perhaps someone will get a “breakthrough”!

Scripture tells us clearly where this deception began – in the Garden of Eden.

“And the serpent said unto the woman, ‘Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil’.” Gen. 3:4-5 KJV

Well, if you will not ‘surely’ die, then it must mean that life will continue somewhere, doesn’t it? But, hold on! Stop the presses! Who is saying this? Who is it that is implying that life will continue somewhere else after death? Not God! It’s THE SERPENT! THE DECEIVER! #LIAR! THE ENEMY OF GOD! THE ONE THAT GOT THEM KICKED OUT OF THE PERFECT GARDEN!

I’ve learned, over the years that these truths found in Scripture impact our salvation whether we believe/accept them or not. We are bound by or held accountable for these truths, for they are outlined in the Holy Bible – they are not a part of the “secret things” that belong unto God, but rather among those things that have been revealed unto us and our children forever; and we will be judged accordingly.
